Delhi-NCR Weather Update and its surrounding regions witnessed a sudden change in weather as heavy rainfall hit various areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an update on the evolving weather conditions.

As reported by the news agency ANI, a video from the Motibagh area, shared on the social media platform X, depicted the heavy downpour that occurred during the night. Meanwhile, near the Red Fort metro station, strong winds were reported, as stated by the Press Trust of India (PTI).

In the morning, the IMD recorded a minimum temperature of 21.1 degrees Celsius in Delhi, which was one degree above the normal temperature for this time of the year. Despite the rainfall, the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the moderate category.

The IMD’s earlier forecast had predicted a partly cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle during the day, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. The change in weather was felt not only in Delhi but also in the wider NCR region.

The IMD’s predictions included heavy rain and snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh due to western disturbances. Additionally, there was a possibility of heavy rain in Punjab and Karnataka, along with the chance of heavy to very heavy rain in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The IMD shared that monsoon is likely to withdraw from various regions within the next 48 hours. This includes the remaining parts of Bihar, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, northeastern states, and some parts of the Bay of Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.

In terms of future rainfall, the Meteorological Department anticipated that the rainy season would persist in North-West India until October 17. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rain was expected to continue in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next 24 hours, followed by a decrease in precipitation. Furthermore, Andaman and Nicobar Islands were predicted to experience rain on October 17 and 18.

On October 17, thunderstorms were forecasted across the Western Himalayan region, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern and Western Rajasthan, and Western Madhya Pradesh, according to the department’s update.

From the weather forecast department, residents of Delhi-NCR should stay prepared for continued rainfall and possible thunderstorms in the coming days as the weather remains dynamic.
