In a concerning development, a BSF Jawan injured in Pakistan ceasefire violation in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers commenced on the evening of October 26, targeting BSF posts in the Arnia area. This aggression was met with a befitting response from the BSF troops stationed there.

The injured jawan, identified as 30-year-old Basavraj SR, hails from Karnataka and was posted at Bikram Post in Arnia. He was safely evacuated for medical treatment. The firing, initiated by Pakistan Rangers, continued into the night, causing panic and chaos among the residents living in proximity to the RS Pura sector. Many locals left their homes in search of safer places amid the escalating tensions.

This incident marks the second ceasefire violation in the International Border region in less than ten days. On October 17, Pakistani Rangers had unleashed unprovoked firing towards BSF troops, resulting in injuries to two BSF personnel.

While a renewed ceasefire agreement had brought relative calm to the borders between India and Pakistan, there have been sporadic incidents of infiltration attempts, all of which were thwarted by the Indian security forces. Additionally, there have been reports of drones being used for weapons drops to assist terrorists.

In a separate development, an encounter between armed forces and militants in the Machil sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district led to the elimination of five terrorists. This successful operation was the result of a joint effort involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and intelligence agencies. It effectively foiled an infiltration bid by militants along the LoC in the Kupwara sector.

The situation remains tense, with security forces maintaining a vigilant presence along the border to ensure the safety and security of the region’s residents.
