In a heartbreaking revelation that left her fans and friends in shock, former Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington shares heartbreaking news of stillbirth child and also shares that it’s a babygirl, Harper, after a routine 20-week scan. The news was delivered with a heartfelt message on her Instagram account, where she expressed her gratitude to the medical staff for their care and support.
Adlington, who had previously announced her pregnancy on October 1st, took to Instagram to convey her emotions, saying, “I don’t really have the words right now but unfortunately, we went for our 20-week scan this week and they found no heartbeat. I gave birth to our angel, Harper, on Friday at 7 pm. We held her and had time with her. We will forever love her and remember her always.”
While thanking the staff at Wythenshawe, Adlington continued, “I don’t have the strength or words right now, and I don’t feel ready to share this news. However, I can’t pretend to be okay or fake a smile. I can’t have people ask me how pregnancy is or when I am due as I still look pregnant. I don’t have the strength to tell this news individually.”
The heart-wrenching news drew an outpouring of condolences and support from fellow sports figures, celebrities, and fans. Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, another former track athlete, wrote, “Oh Becky, I’m sending you and your family so much love. I’m so sorry xxxx.” Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty expressed, “I’m so sorry to hear this; my prayers are with you all.” Max Whitlock added, “So sorry to hear this Becky. Hope you and your family are all okay.”
TV presenter Angellica Bell sent her love, saying, “Sending you so much love. So so sorry xx,” and Helen Skelton shared two heartbroken emojis. TV presenter Dan Walker offered his support, writing, “So sorry, Becky. It must feel impossible at the moment. Sending you love.” Myleen Klass added, “I’m so sorry. Thinking of you, your family, and Harper x,” while singer Sophie Ellis Bextor wrote, “I’m so sorry. Xxx.”
The announcement comes after Adlington disclosed details of a prior miscarriage in August 2022. The news has left her and her husband, Andy Parsons, in profound grief, but they have been overwhelmed by the love and support they have received from friends, family, and fans during this difficult time. Harper’s memory will forever remain in their hearts as they navigate this painful journey together.
She married Mr. Parsons two years ago, and they have a kid named Albie. Summer, a daughter, was born during her union with Harry Needs.
