In a bid to bring about global unity, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th P20 Summit in New Delhi. Under the umbrella of India’s G20 Presidency, this summit marks a significant global congregation of parliamentary practices.

Prime Minister Modi, addressing a vast audience, heralded the summit as the “mahakumbh” of global parliamentary proceedings. “In the heart of the world’s largest democracy, we stand united at the P20 Summit, celebrating the strength of our people and the spirit of democracy,” he remarked.

Highlighting the significance of parliaments as the epicentres for vibrant discussions and debates, the PM also lauded India’s recent achievements, including a successful moon landing. “India, being the cradle of democracy, plays host to this event, symbolising its immense importance in the global context,” Modi pointed out.

In the current global scenario marked by numerous confrontations and conflicts, PM Modi urged nations to come together. “We must realise that divisions won’t lead us to solutions. The hour calls for peace, unity, and collective progression. Let’s embark on this journey of welfare and holistic development together,” he stressed.

The theme of the P20 Summit resonates with this message: ‘Parliaments for One Earth, One Family, One Future.’ Dignitaries from various nations, including Indonesia, Mexico, Spain, and more, graced the event. However, Canada’s absence was noteworthy.

With subjects ranging from digital platform transformations affecting lives, women-centric development, sustainable energy transitions, to accelerating SDGs, the P20 Summit promises to pave the way for a unified, sustainable future.
