In a recent encounter in the Alshipora area of Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces successfully neutralized two LeT Terrorists slain. The operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the region.
The Kashmir Zone Police took to social media to provide updates on the encounter, stating, “#Encounter has started at Alshipora area of #Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.” Subsequently, they announced, “Two (02) #terrorists killed. Search going on. Further details shall follow.”
The two terrorists eliminated during the operation have been identified as Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq, alias Abrar, both associated with LeT. Notably, Abrar was directly implicated in the brutal murder of Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma.
Sanjay Sharma met a tragic end in February when he was gunned down outside his residence in the Achan area of Pulwama. Sharma, who served as an ATM guard at Jammu and Kashmir Bank, had never left his native place.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at seven locations across three districts in south Kashmir as part of the investigation into Sharma’s murder. These efforts aim to ensure justice for the late ATM guard and uphold the rule of law.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said, “Today, the SIA, Kashmir, conducted fresh searches in Case FIR No 14/2023 of Police Station Litter Pulwama. The case pertains to the cold-blooded murder of bank ATM guard Sanjay Sharma. The State Investigation Agency has reiterated that the case will be submitted for judicial determination soon. The SIA has also reiterated its commitment to uphold the rule of law and effecting harshest punishment to all those involved in the gruesome murder of Sanjay Sharma.”
This successful operation against LeT terrorists, particularly the one responsible for Sanjay Sharma’s killing, marks a significant step in ensuring peace and security in the region.
