In the wake of recent death threats received by Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, the Maharashtra government has taken decisive action, enhancing the actor’s security to Y+ level. The threats reportedly escalated following the blockbuster success of his latest films, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, both garnering significant acclaim and revenue.
The Mumbai Police will now provide Shah Rukh Khan escalates security to Y+ Level cover, a measure involving round-the-clock protection by a team of six armed security personnel. This upgrade is a substantial increase from his previous security detail of two personnel.
According to police sources, Shah Rukh Khan communicated his concerns to the Maharashtra government after experiencing threats to his life in the aftermath of delivering back-to-back blockbusters. The authorities responded promptly, bolstering his security cover to mitigate potential risks.
Shah Rukh Khan’s situation isn’t isolated, as the film industry has witnessed similar security measures in the past. Salman Khan, another prominent Bollywood actor, was also accorded Y+ security due to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang.
It’s worth noting that Shah Rukh Khan has faced threats from the Mumbai underworld previously and has consistently stood firm against intimidation. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently commended Khan for his resilience and determination, hailing him as the lone star in the ’90s who never succumbed to underworld pressure.
The Maharashtra government’s policy dictates that security cover is extended to individuals facing credible threats to their lives. In such cases, individuals are required to pay a fee or deposit a security amount for the protection.
