The magic of Thalapathy Vijay has once again cast its spell on Indian cinema lovers! The latest action-thriller sensation, “Leo,” has taken the domestic box office by storm, amassing a whopping ₹250 crore within just six days of its release. The film, now on the seventh day, shows no signs of slowing down as it approaches the ₹300 crore benchmark.

The ticket counter witnessed staggering numbers as “Leo” garnered ₹64.80 crore on its first day, Rs. 35.25 crore on its first Friday, Rs 39.80 crore on its first Saturday, Rs 41.55 crore on its first Sunday, Rs 35.70 crore on its first Monday, Rs 32.70 crore on its first Tuesday and is estimated to have made around Rs 12.50 crore on its first Wednesday. And if that wasn’t enough, the subsequent days continued to bring in hefty sums, taking the total collection to an estimated ₹262.30 crore as on Wednesday, as reported by the renowned Indian film trade portal Sacnilk.

Interestingly, the Tamil version of the film leads with a robust 34.71% occupancy, closely followed by its Telugu and Hindi adaptations.

But it’s not just the domestic grounds where “Leo” is reigning supreme. On the global front, the film has already crossed the ₹500 crore mark, outpacing renowned titles like Kamal Haasan’s “Vikram” and Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan” sequels. This impressive feat has etched “Leo” as the fastest Tamil film to reach this mammoth figure within its initial six days.

For the uninitiated, “Leo,” directed by the brilliant Lokesh Kanagaraj, pays tribute to the 2005 hit “A History of Violence.” The narrative revolves around Parthiban ‘Parthi’ Das, an unassuming docile cafe owner who became a real hero after a spontaneous act of violence. This very act drags him into the crosshairs of a notorious drug cartel.

The movie not only marks the second collaboration of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Thalapathy Vijay, following their 2021 blockbuster “Master,” but also introduces Bollywood’s “bad boy,” Sanjay Dutt, to Tamil cinema. With a stellar ensemble including Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and others, “Leo” promises a cinematic experience like no other.

The Thalapathy Vijay’s film has an IMDb rating of 8/10. Launched on October 19 in multiple languages in Tamil, Hindi, Telegu and Kannada, “Leo” faced fierce competition from regional heavyweights, yet managed to steal the limelight, further solidifying Vijay’s position as one of the titans of Indian cinema.
